Timothy "Skippy" Russell

Timothy Joseph Russell, “Skippy” 71, of Norton, MA passed away in the loving arms of his wife, Oanh, at home on June 11, 2023 following a courageous battle with an aggressive and relentless cancer.

Tim was born in Pawtucket, RI to the late “Big Jack” and Helen (Hayes) Russell. He is pre deceased by his oldest brother, Michael and only sister, Peggy. He is survived by his loving wife, Oanh, and their daughter, Helen, both of Norton, MA. He leaves four brothers; Robert and his wife JoAnn, of Cocoa ,FL, Kenneth of Hanover, MA. and twin brothers, Kevin and Keith of Tucson, Arizona. Tim also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family members and an abundance of close friends, many of whom are lifelong.

Tim grew up in Pawtucket graduating from Saint Mary’s School and Pawtucket West High School. He then went on to The Rhode Island School of Design where he was a member of the first graduating class of the Culinary Institute there. Tim worked as an executive chef around the country for a number of years before returning to Massachusetts joining the late Guy Abelson to run the kitchen at the popular Cafe in the Barn in Seekonk, MA. Tim then made a big career change when he moved to Boston to form The Russell Group, a successful contracting firm in Boston and around the region. Tim was an avid traveler and adventurer, regularly stepping off to far flung places across the globe. Tim found a second home in Vietnam where he met Oanh, the love of his life and where his precious daughter, Helen was born. He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by all that knew him.

Memorial Visitation and Celebration of Tim’s life will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Southeast Funeral Home, 93 Center Street, Easton, MA. from 10:00am-12:00pm with a Memorial Service in the Funeral Home at 12:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Tim’s memory can be made to the Lotus Wonder Foundation are greatly appreciated.

This is the orphanage that houses 40 children and growing in the Central Highlands of Vietnam that he and Oanh have supported for many years.
