Thomas Parsons Obituary

We are deeply saddened to announce the death of our father, Thomas Henry Parsons, who passed away peacefully at the age of 86 surrounded by his loving family.

Thomas was born November 28, 1936, in Quincy, Massachusetts to Wellington and Lena Parsons. He was a graduate of Braintree High School where he was voted Class Clown and Best Dressed for his class superlatives.

Thomas served in the military for one year with the National Guard and then four years with the US Air Force stationed at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina. After marrying our mom, he moved back to Massachusetts where he worked for many years with his own father at the Quincy Shipyard. He then became a Braintree police officer where he served his community with honor and respect for 34 years.

Our dad’s great love was our mom, Patricia. They met while he was stationed in South Carolina. He saw her working as a cashier through the window of Kresge’s Five and Dime while walking by the store with his military friend. He was so enamored by her beauty that he asked his friend to go in and get her telephone number, for which she replied, “If he wants my telephone number he needs to come in and get it”. She made our dad work so hard for that first date that she switched the digits of her telephone phone number around, but our dad being whom he was soon figured it out. On their first date mom said she was taken back by his sense of humor and how handsome he was. They were married on January 4, 1958, and have never spent a day apart having a wonderful life together for almost 66 years.

Our dad enjoyed collecting radio premium rings from his childhood, watching old movies, feeding the birds, always cracking jokes, showing us coin and card tricks, and dining out at one of his favorite Italian restaurants, Lorenzo’s in Middleboro, Ma.  Being a devoted Born-Again Christian and soldier to the Lord, he especially loved speaking to people about coming to the Lord.

Thomas is survived by his wife and the love of his life Patricia Ann (Griffin) Parsons, his three devoted children Vicky Ann Lisboa, Thomas Henry Parsons Jr, and Dean Gary Parsons, his cherished grandchildren Anthony Lisboa Jr, Crystal DeSouza, Dean Gary Parsons Jr, and Taylor Rae Schena and his loving great-granddaughter Ariana DeSouza. He also leaves behind his Jack Russell Terrier “Daisy” who was his beloved dog and companion for the past 16 years whom he adored. He was predeceased by his mother and father Lena and Wellington Parsons.

Thomas loved his family more than anything in this world. We were his pride and joy, and he was our hero. He will be missed for all eternity. Rest in Peace Dad. We will see you someday in Heaven.

We would like to extend our gratitude to all the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Brockton VA Hospital for the unending attention and care they gave to our beloved father. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
