Thomas H. Anderson of North Easton, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on December 30, 2023 surrounded by his family. “Granda”, as he was called, lived a wonderful life of 86 years. Born May 25, 1937, in Belfast, Northern Ireland to Robert and Sarah Anderson. He met his late wife Susan in Belfast, where they grew up on the same street.
Thomas started working at the age of 14 as an apprentice pipe maker at the organ pipe company in Belfast. At the age of 19, Thomas emigrated to the United States, where he started working at the Aeolian-Skinner Organ Company as a pipe maker. He loved his work and started his own company, Thomas H. Anderson Organ Pipe Company several years later. He traveled all over the country working on various church projects including the National Cathedral in Washington, DC. In his later years, as a respected craftsman, he traveled the country to teach people how to
make organ pipes in order to pass on his vast knowledge. Thomas enjoyed listening to the Irish Hit Parade on the radio every Saturday during his working years, traveling back to Ireland, trips to Folly Beach, SC, day trips to Castle Island with his grand-children and great grand-children, sitting out on his back deck and maybe taking in an occasional nap, and visiting his house in
Maine in the summertime. He enjoyed working hard and enjoying his pass times. They were the mix that was his life, similar to his favorite song by Frank Sinatra, “I Did it My Way.”
Thomas and Susan raised 4 children who survive him: Gail McGill and her husband Mark of Raynham, MA; Thomas Anderson of Lake Wylie, SC; Cheryl Dekeon of Haverhill, MA; and Elizabeth Lehr and her husband Donald of Berryville, VA. His beloved Susan passed away December 31, 1996, almost 27 years to the date of his passing, they were married for 38 years. “Granda” was a loving grandfather to 6 grandchildren: Alyson, Ariana, Ashley, Ryan, Margaret, and Graham; 2 step- grandchildren: Kayla and James; and to 3 great grandchildren: “His Girls” Alina
and Ashlyn (Sissy), and Landon. Thomas is survived by his loving sisters Muriel and Lily both of Northern Ireland.
