Sam Thomas Protentis, 96, passed peacefully into eternity in the home he raised his family, in Brockton surrounded by his loved ones. Born on June 7, 1926, Sam died on December 28, 2022. Born in Brooklyn, New York to Thomas and Pauline Protentis, Sam was the youngest of 8 children whom he adored.
Sam was a WWII Vet serving honorably in the US Navy. Sam married the love of his life, Inga (Mayer) Protentis and they recently celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary. Sam and Inga relocated to Brockton, Massachusetts for his career in 1954. Sam spent 40 years as NE Sales Manager for Madewell Manufacturing. After retirement, Sam worked for his son at TransPro Courier and delivered in-home medications for Apothecare Pharmacy throughout Brockton well into his 80’s. When not at the Raynham dog track (his 2nd home), he relished sharing stories about the “old people” that he delivered to whom he often helped with household tasks. Sam had an incredible love of life. He shared his passion and energy for life will his family who he adored.
Along with his wife, Sam is survived by sons, Russell, Paul, Jeffrey, and Scott Protentis, daughters-in-law, Lynda, Barbara, Barb, Michelle and 14 grandchildren, Nicholas, Lauren, Alecia, Rachel, Sam, Leah, Justin, Alexis, Nichole, Thomas, Jack, Jocelyn, Evan, and Ben. Sam is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren: William, Brody, Miles, and Rosie. A military funeral will be held in June on what would have been his 97th birthday.
