Sally Osborn Obituary

Sally Thayer Osborn, 89, long time resident of Marion, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully in Bourne, Massachusetts, on July 12, 2018. She was the daughter of Oman G. and Marion Thayer of Rehoboth, Massachusetts. Born in Boston and raised in Rehoboth, she received a Masters degree from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. She had a long career in counseling, which included being a founding member of the Marion Center for Human Services. Considered a second mother to many of the people she influenced she was widely regarded in the community for her caring and personal approach. After retiring, she ran a bed & breakfast at her home gaining a reputation for providing exceptional meals and great hospitality. Many of her guests were introduced to her passion for birds, especially hummingbirds, with many feeders hanging off her porch. Guests were encouraged to partake in the completion of jigsaw puzzles that were always being worked on. She had a great sense of humor and the ability to tell a good story. Her formidable collection of shells from her days of shelling on Sanibel Island decorated many of her rooms. However, her greatest accomplishment and source of pride were her five children, Susan, Kenneth, Christopher, Jeffrey and Timothy. As she once wrote, “The one great joy and best thing I EVER did was having the five of my children!!! I am so proud of them all!!!”

Sally was predeceased by her daughter, Susan Osborn Capezzone and survived by her sons and spouses, Kenneth Osborn, Christopher Osborn and Maggie McCall, Jeffrey & Ellen Osborn, and Timothy Osborn, her three grandchildren and spouses, Leif & Amy Ragnaldsen, Hayden & Jeremy Holt and Jarrett & Melissa Osborn, her four great-grandsons, Jack & Reed Holt, Andrew & Finn Osborn, her niece & nephew and spouses, Wendi Hayes & Christopher Throop and Robert & Karen Hayes.

The family wishes to thank all those who cared for Sally during the last part of her life. We will be forever grateful for the caring and love they gave to her.

A celebration of Sally’s life will take place at Lindsey’s Restaurant in Wareham, MA on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
