Myrtle Blaisdell Obituary

Myrtle L. Blaisdell (Martin) passed away peacefully on May 17, 2023 with her family by her side at the age of 96.  She was the wife of the late William C. Blaisdell.

Myrtle was born in Easton on June 17, 1926 to the late John and Olive (Packard) Martin.  She worked as an RN at the Goddard Hospital, the VA Hospital and Braemore Nursing Home.  Her abilities and caring nature inspired a niece and friend of her daughters to become the best nurse possible.

Myrtle was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, scrabble and word games. She had several word feud opponents.  She enjoyed sewing, knitting, bowling, and sitting on her front porch where friends and neighbors were always welcome for a visit.

Along with inspiring future nurses, Myrtle had a gift for creating many life long friendships.  She had genuine curiosity and caring for others.  She was always learning, as demonstrated by her computer usage at the age of 80.

Myrtle was predeceased by both of her parents, her sister; Emily E. Pound, and brothers; Richard, Ernest and Kenneth Martin.  She is survived by her two loving daughters; Beth Mowatt and Joanne Soule as well as her brother Doug Martin.  Myrtle also leaves behind her grandchildren; Kevin, Kyle, Julie and John and great-grandchildren; Jonah, Hunter, Alyssa, Gemma and Mikko as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

A Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 21st from 2:00-5:00 at the Southeast Funeral Home, 93 Center St., Easton, MA. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.

A private burial will be held at a later date at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA where she will be laid to rest with her husband.

Donations in Myrtle’s name may be made to the Easton Food Pantry.
