It is with great sadness that the family of Lucille Maroon announces her passing on Thursday, June 4th, 2020, at the age of 97 surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of the late Edward Maroon. Born April 22, 1923 in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Gelase and Delvina DesLauriers. Lucille was a graduate of Brockton High School and attended Sisters of Assumptions Nicolet, in Quebec Canada.
Lucille had a beautiful spirit and was a devout Catholic who believed in the power of prayer. She spent much of her younger years volunteering at St Teresa Maronite Church and numerous Catholic charities. Being the mother of 6, Lucille could cook up a storm and there was always room for one more at her table. She was famous for her baklava and lasagna. Lucille managed the cafeteria and bakery for Brockton High School and her family and friends still cook some of those recipes like "school dessert". Lucille also enjoyed sewing and was very patient when she attempted to teach the next generation how to properly sew curtains and mend clothing. Lucille kept her mind sharp by always solving “Word Finds” and puzzle books. Most of all, Lucille cherished the time she spent with her family, seeing her children and even better, her grandchildren. Lucille always had words of encouragement, wisdom, and comfort. There was not a problem on earth that could not be solved over a good, night long card game.
Lucille will forever be remembered by her six loving children Guy, Gayle her late husband Bob Johnson, Lee Maroon and wife Sol, Lawrence Maroon, Claire Abate and husband Jim, and Cathy Morton and husband Glen; eleven cherished grand-children, Thomas, Sandra, Edward, Sarah, Corey, David, Jessica, Joseph, Yvonne, Jessica and Alexia. Her three great-grandchildren Greyson, Aubrey and Kaya Rae. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her late husband she was predeceased by her siblings; Claire and husband Tom, Rolland and his wife Babe, Viola and her husband Jim, Gerry and his wife Helen, Pauline and husband Herb, Yvonne and husband Ray and Lionel and wife Barbara.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at 11:00 AM in Saint Theresa Maronite Church, 343 N Main St., Brockton, MA 02301. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.
