Joseph Edward Kerrigan, age 81, of Taunton, Massachusetts, passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family on March 13, 2024.
Joe was born March 3, 1943, in Taunton, MA. After graduating from Taunton High School, he entered the Army in 1962. He served with honor and distinction as a US Army Sergeant until 1967. Joe worked for the United States Post Office for over 30 years.
His family lovingly referred to him as “Bampy”. He always enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends. Joe found pleasure in riding his bike along the Cape Cod Canal, stopping for clam chowder and a lobster roll. Joe was a devoted Catholic and enjoyed attending daily Mass. He loved vacationing and traveling with his wife Bonnie. Everyone loved Joe for his fun, kind and outgoing demeanor. Joe loved the Celtics, Red Sox, and New England Patriots. Joe’s favorite player was his grandson Nicholas. He was a great man who helped everyone and always had a smile on face. Joe was a friend of Bill W.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 40 years, Bonnie (Pierce); son Bradley Kerrigan and his wife Zelina (Fernandes), of Swansea; grandson Nicholas Tinkham, of Berkley, MA; sister Ann Bush and her husband Paul Bush, of Troy, OH; brother Jack Kerrigan and his wife Florence, of Duxbury, MA; brother-in-law Steven Pierce, his wife Julie Gold of Assonet, MA; sister-in–law Jennie Gomes and her husband Robert Gomes, of Assonet, MA and many loving nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Alice R. (Goodwin) and John M. Kerrigan; brother of the late Joan McAloon.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Southeast Funeral Home, 93 Center St. North Easton, MA from 10:00-11:30am, a Funeral Service will take place in the Funeral Home at 11:30am, followed by a burial at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave. Bourne, MA. All relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
