Dennis Maxim Obituary

Dennis E. Maxim, 58, of Hyannis, died Monday, July 6, 2020, at home after a life-long illness. Born May 6, 1962, in Wareham, He was the son of the late George I. and Barbara T. Maxim.

Dennis grew up in Onset and went to Wareham schools. He worked as a short order cook at Byrons And Breaker 19. He also did small carpentry and was a handy man. When Dennis became of age, he joined the Army and served as a specialist in the 101st Airborne Division as a combat medic during the Grenada Campaign. Dennis was Honorably Discharged upon his release from the Army.

Dennis loved to travel. He has been to almost every state in the United States, all by using his thumb. Dennis not only enjoyed traveling, but he loved to cook, watch the Patriots and the Red Sox play, listen to music, and watch tv and movies. What Dennis loved most of all, was spending time with whom mattered to him the most, and that was his family. Dennis loved Onset and everything it had to offer. Dennis was a former member of the Onset VFW.

Dennis is survived by the mother of his son, Joanne Sylvester of Carver, son Michael Sylvester Hyannis, his brothers Richard Hagen of Dallas, Texas, Jerry Hurst and late wife Bonnie Hurst of Florida, George Maxim and wife Linda Maxim of New Bedford, Scott Maxim and wife Karen Maxim of Onset , Mark Maxim and wife Lisa Maxim of Onset, Paul Maxim of Fall River, and his sister Barbara Maxim of Clarksville, Tennessee. Dennis also leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dennis also leaves behind his partner in life Lonny of Hyannis.

A Celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family will notify when this information becomes available.
