Bill (William) Lapanus, 63, of Barnstable, passed away unexpectedly at home on December 15th, 2023. He was born in Canton, MA to Vincent and Mary Lapanus. Brother to Ed Lapanus and his wife Debra of Holbrook, MA and sister, Ann and her husband, Al Bellows of Weymouth, MA. Bill is survived by his wife, Mary Lapanus, of Barnstable, MA, and their daughter Maggie Lapanus, and her husband Aswath of Pembroke, NH. Also survived by many extended family members including cousins, in-laws, and nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Blue Hills Regional High School in Canton, MA, where he majored in electrical engineering and was notoriously known as the D.J. on the school’s radio station, Bill began his career in healthcare in-home infusion therapy. Bill went on to continue his career in healthcare at Omnicell Technologies headquartered in Mountainview, CA, a company specializing in manufacturing Hospital Safety Systems. Bill spent 27 years at Omnicell, eventually achieving a lucrative career as Director of Sales for the Northeast Region of the United States and Canada.
Bill was the life of the party. He was witty, charming, extremely intelligent and loved deeply by all who knew him – just ask anyone who’s joined him in a competitive game of trivia or challenging him in Jeopardy, which more times than not he’d win. He was very proud of his time in the Knights of Columbus with whom he was involved for many years at Holy Trinity Parish in Plymouth, NH.
Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, watching Fox News, F1 Racing, Perry Mason, and his beloved time at Newfound Lake, New Hampshire. For the last four years, Bill hosted the Cape Cod Baseball League players’ and it was the highlight of his summer. But most of all Bill enjoyed being with his family, seeing his friends, and his love for his beloved black labs Homer and Oprah - and just being Bill!
Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, December 22nd from 10:00am-11:00am in the Holy Family Parish, 372 Middleboro Ave, East Taunton 02718 followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00am.
