Jacqueline Letourneau Obituary

Jacqueline (“Jackie”) Letourneau, 91, passed away in Wareham on March 18, 2019. Born on August 22, 1927 in New Bedford to parents Edward and Josephine Melanson, she was one of six siblings. Jackie worked as a Legal Secretary in New Bedford for four years and married her husband Maurice S. Letourneau in 1948. She traveled extensively and relocated with her family throughout the US for her husband’s business; they settled in Longboat Key, FL and then in Nokomis upon his retirement. She helped run the Sarasota Paint Company which they formed in 1975 and then sold in 1988. Jackie was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother.  She is missed dearly. She enjoyed the beach, traveling to places near and far, bridge, mahjong and tennis, which she played well into her eighties. For her 80th birthday she asked for and received a bicycle.

She is survived by three children, Cynthia Letourneau and husband Philip Leddy of Plymouth, MA, Linda Johnson of Phelan, CA and Richard Letourneau and wife Laura of Atlanta, GA as well as six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a sister, Claudette Leblanc of Fairhaven, MA.

A Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 12th at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church in Fairhaven.

A burial ceremony will follow on Thursday, May 2 at 12:30 PM at the Sarasota National Cemetery.
